Visual Source Safe

Documentation Index

This page contains the description of fields and options available when setting up the Visual SourceSafe VCS options as a project VCS root.

Notes and Limitations
  • Microsoft Visual SourceSafe works only if the TeamCity server is installed under Windows® operating system.
  • Make sure TeamCity server process is run under the user that has permissions to access VSS databases.

TeamCity 2.0 has the following limitations for Visual SourceSafe integration:

  • Shared (not branched) files cannot be checked out.
  • Comments for add and delete operations for file and directories are not shown in VSS 6.0. All such operations will have "No Comment" instead of real VSS comment. (This limitation is imposed by VSS API making it impossible to retrieve comments with acceptable performance).
