The new project wizard should have a 4th option ("from version control") in addition to the existing ones ("from scratch", "from existing sources", "from external model"). Currently one needs to open the version control menu and choose checkout to create a new project from version control systems. I think this 4th option is expected (by a beginner) to be found in the new project wizard dialog. After all, he is creating a new project.
