 Description  « Hide
IDEA hangs and does not recover on my my machine from time to time. No error messages, nothing in the logs. It only appears to happen when there are one or more Run/Debug processes, although those processes are not affected by the hang.

I have tried killing the processes using Task Manager, but it does not affect the hanged IDEA. I have tried running the processes using the YourKit profiler plugin, but there were no significant problems shown.

Recent thread dump attached, I will add more as they come.

Do you have "Settings | General | Limit run/debug consoles output to..." option enabled?

andy geach - 20 Mar 08 13:04
Dimitry, yes - it was set to 100000. I have reset it to 10000.

I'm not seeing the hang any more with the new setting, its been running well for a week since then.

Maybe have a limit on the value in the Settings window, or a warning if a user sets it too high?

Issue has cropped up again -see dump_030408.txt

Here is another thread dump from a hanged IDEA. In this instance, the "Settings | General | Limit run/debug consoles output to..." option was set to 1000.

Is there a workaround for this issue?
