I think the main usage of the ER diagram is exploring relations. Some entities can have a large number of persistent properties, and showing all those properties in the ER diagram makes it less useful sometimes. Relations are always shown anyway (by the edges connecting the nodes), but it would be nice to have a toggle button to show/hide the display of properties.
