When analysing VCS history of a particular source file it is often important to know in which version a specific pattern appeared for the first time. The proposed feature would scan the history of the file and display in which versions the pattern found. I think it can be easily integrated into the current File History view by e.g. highlighting rows in the view corresponding to the matching file versions.
