I'm unable to type the tilde (~) or "hat" (^) character in the IntelliJ editor. This is happening on both of my Linux boxes which are using SuSe 9.3. My coworkers using Windows does not have this problem. We all have norwegian keyboards, and to type the tilde I have to hold "Alt Gr" and then hit the key. To type the ^ I have to hold shift and then hit the same key. In both cases I have to hit this combo twice because these characters are used in combinations with others, such as ñ and û. The third character on this particular key is the ¨, which works (I don't have to hold any modifier to type this, but I do have to strike the key twice). This is obviously quite annoying when I'm writing regular expressions. In these cases I have to open Emacs and type the character there, and then copy it to IntelliJ.
I'm sorry if this has been reported before. I couldn't find any way to search for this as I'm not sure about the international names of the characters in questions, nor does the search engine seem to respond to any of them.
