Sometimes, like when using Pattern or SimpleDateFormat, I want to keep the javadoc open. I should be able to click a pin icon in the quick javadoc popup, which converts it to a window that I have to close manually.

Yes! That's a killer feature especially since the javadoc popups are movable & resizable now.
