Close all files, and keep in mind some 'Big' file (to open it IDEA must spend some feelable time).
Ctrl+E, chose Big one. Enter, and then again quickly Ctrl+E (you must press Ctrl+E after Enter, and before file actualy opened)
Wait until file opened. You will have Editor with focus and popup unded editor without focus.
