No way to stop the server from IDEA after a failed stop attempt

Created: 07 Mar 07 21:29   Updated: 27 Sep 07 23:29
Component/s: J2EE.Deployment and Run.WebSphere
Fix Version/s: None

Original Estimate: Unknown Remaining Estimate: Unknown Time Spent: Unknown

Build: 6,733
Severity: Medium

 Description  « Hide
Scenario:
  • Websphere 5.1
  • Security configured (need admin username/password for admin tasks)
  • Configure intentionally invalid username/password in IDEA-Websphere launch dialog
  • Start the server from IDEA
  • Stop the server from IDEA - this attempt fails (console output with an error from script due to invalid credentials configured before)
  • The stop button is disabled, and there's no other way to stop the server, but from outside IDEA.

Note, that if the user attempts to start a server after a failed stop attempt, IDEA correctly detects a server on the port and prompts on action. The same check could be used to control the state of the stop button.
