When I open JSPs and indent something the contents of the file just start moving to the right one TAB equivalent per second (about that). I can try and fight Idea but when I stop 'Shift-TAB'ing, it just continues indenting over. The end result is I can't actually edit jsp files since the code keeps moving.

Not sure what the title change is about but the issue I saw wasn't that indenting was slow it was that IDEA was just constantly TAB'ing the contents over every second or so. When I manually changed the indentation it didn't seem unusually slow. I have -Xmx392m, 2GB ram and a 2.1 GHz Pentium M.

The net effect of the bug is when I stare at the window, the text starts moving to the right and continues moving with no way to stop it (other than switching editor tabs)
