Using the default color settings with IDEA there is different behavior while highlighting text depending on whether Column Mode is enabled or not. When column mode is off, highlighting text appears to use the settings for Selection Foreground and Selection Background. However, when column mode is on, the background matches the setting for the Selection Background but the text color stays the same as the unhighlighted text. In other words, column mode selections appear to ignore the setting for Selection Foreground.
With the default color settings this isn't a big deal but I use a custom set of colors including a black background and white text. I've set the Selection Foreground to black and the Selection Background to white. Normal text highlighting works just fine (black text on white background). However, when I turn on Column Mode, the highlighted text has a white background but the text stays whatever color it would normally be. Since most of my text is white, it is quite difficult to read (white on white).
Could you please fix column mode highlighting to honor the Selection Foreground setting. This problem exists in 4.5.4 and 5.0.1.

Rick
