take a look at the attached image. I can hardly read letters in the query. I don't know how to make them bigger and it seems to me that the font is not rendered properly

I've got the same problem, while my mate does not.
I've checked our settings in details and found, that this problem reproduced when Idea starts with L&F other than "IDEA (4.5 default)".

So, to reproduce:
1) Switch L&F: IDEA (4.5 default)
2) Restart Idea. You'll have Courier font in query dialog
3) Switch L&F: Alloy. Bedoin Theme (reproduced with any Alloy. *) Courier font in query dialog remains
4) Restart Idea. Font in query dialog is changed to Sans Serif.

Obvious workaround, but absolutely not useful is to perform above steps 1)-3) every time you start working with Idea or always use "IDEA (4.5 default)" L&F.

Hope it will help and fix for this defect will be scheduled to the nearest version.
